Workers, here come the third type of workers – more entrepreneurial in the 4.0 era than mere order-takers
The report commissioned by Federmeccanica examines changes among employees
The traditional distinction between manual and white-collar workers – the division between employees who carry out tasks and managers who give orders – is a thing of the past. Today, we are coming to terms with knowledge and technology. This has given rise to a third type of worker, who are demanding greater autonomy, greater involvement and different working and contractual models from companies. These are the so-called ‘entrepreneurial workers’ – workers who are developing characteristics more akin to self-employment, and who are at the forefront of the fourth industrial revolution. This is the finding of the third edition of the Labour Monitor, an analytical study designed to chart changes in workers’ attitudes and work cultures, carried out by Community Media Research on behalf of Federmeccanica.
