Adecco: 5,000 new recruits and 160,000 contracts

The labour market described in the responses from a representative sample of 1,000 employed workers to an Adecco survey, commissioned from Community Media Research, conveys – much like the economic and financial indicators – a strong sense of uncertainty.

Let’s take the issue of permanent employment as an example. Whilst it is true that, for 75 per cent of those surveyed, a permanent contract allows them to make plans and look to the future with confidence, it is even more true – and this is according to more than one in two workers (56.8 per cent) – that it is no longer the guarantee it was a few years ago, because it is now easier to make people redundant. Is this a result of the Jobs Act?
