Alberto Bombassei recently said in an interview with Corriere Economia that Italy must recover the desire to do business that characterised the post-war years. The Brembo founder is well aware that doing business in Italy is difficult, but he believes that Industry 4.0 can offer the right opportunities. Thinking about this lack of turnover in the entrepreneurial fabric, one wonders whether, and/or to what extent, the 'brain drain' could turn into a flight of the desire to do business. That energies, in short, end up going elsewhere. Numbers are hard to come by. Giovanni Bozzetti, the intermediary of Italian companies in Abu Dhabi for whose Chamber of Commerce he is the contact person in Italy, emphasises a great desire of entrepreneurs for foreign countries due to 'the blockage of the domestic market; the chronic delay of payments that in Italy send companies into default; and a foreign regulatory system that is more protective for companies'.
