The Veneto people feel hard-working, for sure. But also, for one in four, more interested in money than in culture. And then never satisfied, and also selfish. Only one in ten feels that we are above all 'autonomist' in this region. And far fewer still indicate being altruistic and supportive as a strong characteristic. Or even – and no less surprisingly, in what was once referred to as the 'sacristy of Italy' – being religious. In short: the people of Veneto and the north-east "look at themselves in the mirror and the image they reflect has a non-univocal profile, with more shadows than lights". This is how Vicenza-born sociologist Daniele Marini summarises the results on this side of the survey he conducted as director of Cmr-Community Media Research, in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo-Cassa di risparmio veneto.
