Industry: Vicenza, Padua and Treviso launch a productivity pact
Massimo Finco describes it as ‘a productivity pact between the various stakeholders within the factory’. In other words, ‘a pact to extend company-level collective bargaining in Veneto to cover at least 609 workers. We can trial this new contract model’. The leader of Confindustria Padova is speaking via video link from Germany, where he is attending the Hannover Messe with his poultry equipment company, and seems to be looking on at Maria Cristina Piovesana and Luciano Vescovi, his colleagues from Treviso and Vicenza, who are launching ‘Cambiare’ with him from Padua, tomorrow’s assembly at the Palaexpo in Marghera, bringing together the three Confindustria branches under ‘Sistema Aperto’ – the network that for the past two years has pooled the services of the three regional branches for their 6,000 members. Within this framework, the business community at the heart of the Veneto region is rallying its members tomorrow to relaunch the proposal for a change in the contractual model, on the eve of the reopening, on 7 December, of the national negotiations with the trade unions. “We’ll need at least two thousand people,” says Finco, “to express a position that everyone will have to take into account. Otherwise, it will be a failure.” In the debate with CGIL leader Susanna Camusso, Labour Minister Giuliano Poletti and Confindustria President Vincenzo Boccia, the idea is for the Veneto region to flex its muscles in support of the ‘wages-for-productivity’ exchange, based on a series of arguments and research compiled by Daniele Marini: reducing the influence of national collective agreements in favour of local performance-based bargaining.
