A ‘Nordest’ agreement to boost productivity

In the north-east, they want a new contractual model. This is being called for by business owners, particularly those from Treviso, Vicenza and Padua, who held their annual meeting together for the first time in Mestre. Many workers, starting with those from the CISL trade union, are also in favour, with the aim of regionalising contracts to benefit from greater opportunities, particularly in terms of income. Daniele Marini, a sociologist at the University of Padua, interviewed a sample of 1,300 workers and around a thousand business owners in the north-east, and found that workers regard the company as their home; they also see the need for a minimum wage and for pay rises to be renegotiated at the workplace.
