If a European feeling is a significant part of our identity system, however the trust expressed in institutions does not reach a high levelon the contrary. One clearly emerges spread between their sense of belonging and the esteem in which they are held. Which, moreover, is even more strident in national than in European circles. None of the institutions proposed for consideration by the Italians surveyed exceeded 50% approval. Trust in the EU stands at 47.0%, the European Parliament at 42.1% and the European Central Bank at 36.8%. Worse, in terms of their respective levels, are the Italian institutions: the State comes in at 25.2%, slightly surpassed by the Bank of Italy (27.6%), but with the Parliament only at 11.5% trust. It is interesting to observe how trust in European institutions is proportionally linked to a wider territorial affiliation, while that towards national institutions is substantially homogeneous. As if to say that national (s)confidence is widespread and pervasivewhile a more open degree of territorial identity corresponds to a higher degree of esteem for supranational institutions.
Italians express plural territorial belongingcertainly national and also with a strong European identity. But between identity and trust in institutions there is a spread high. The spread italy's financial position has been greatly reduced in recent years. The intangible one of trust, however, is no less important to recover: towards the European institutions, but even more so towards the Italian ones.
