North-East: a slump in confidence \u2013 only three have come out unscathed<\/p>\n
They are our small and medium-sized business owners, the police and the Head of State: low ratings, however, for other economic players and institutions<\/p>\n
A real slump for some, a recovery for others. About ten years ago, in 2007, the sociologist Daniele Marini and his colleagues, having surveyed trust in institutions in Italy and the north-east, spoke of the \u2018Venetians\u2019 anger\u2019 towards national institutions, particularly due to the different treatment the state reserves for Veneto compared with its \u2018special\u2019 neighbours in Trentino and Friuli. They also noted that, amongst the Venetians, the police enjoyed a trust rating of almost 80 per cent, the Church 60 per cent, the EU at 44 per cent, the judiciary at 37 per cent, the state at 30 per cent, banks at 20 per cent, Parliament at 18 per cent, business associations at 28.7 per cent, and trade unions at 26.4 per cent. Now, a quick glance at the chart on the right is enough to see how many of these figures have changed significantly.<\/p>\n
