If, politically speaking, Italy has experienced an era of tripolarism in recent years and is now facing a political fragmentation that is gradually widening, there is a significant reason for this. Indeed, views on how to overcome the crisis divide the Venetians themselves into at least three camps: free-market advocates, statists and reformists (see chart opposite). This is made clear by a survey conducted by the Community Media Research laboratory \u2013 whose scientific director is the sociologist Daniele Marini \u2013 in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo-Cassa Risparmio del Veneto. GLOBAL AND NATIONAL \u2018The scenarios,\u2019 explains Marini, \u2018are changing at a rapid pace. In the space of a few years, we have moved from the spread of globalisation and the opening up of international markets to the strong re-emergence of centripetal forces, a trend towards protectionism and the reaffirmation of national sovereignty. This is the consequence of a process that has unfolded at an accelerated and uneven pace, without adequate regulation. Populist and sovereigntist movements, seeking a return to the old rules, have an easy time of it and are warmly welcomed by a significant section of the population. Change is never neutral.<\/p>\n
