PADUA The potential of the Italian agri-food sector has been extolled for decades, but if companies in the sector wish to increase their profitability and remain viable in a globalised world, they must step up their efforts in the areas of exports and improved organisational and management capacity. The Report on the Agri-Food Industry in Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia, compiled by Community Media Research on behalf of Friuladria and presented yesterday at the Confindustria Padova headquarters, focused on the results for the first half of 2016 and painted a picture of the sector that is, to say the least, encouraging. The survey involved over 500 companies. Over the last three years, 70.1 per cent of agri-food businesses have implemented some form of innovation, whether in processes or products: whilst just over half (51.9%) invested in both areas, thereby accelerating towards comprehensive renewal, almost a third of companies (29.9%) have fallen behind, failing to implement any kind of initiative.<\/p>\n
