People are looking to \u2018prospects\u2019 instead<\/p>\n<p>In the box-office hit <em>Where am I going?<\/em> The teacher asks the child, Checco Zalone: \u201cWhat would you like to do when you grow up?\u201d. The young actor\u2019s curt reply: \u201cA permanent job\u201d. The joke \u2013 which is certainly amusing \u2013 stems from the fact that, for decades, Italians\u2019 greatest aspiration has been to secure a permanent contract.<\/p>\n<p>In reality, however, it seems that the myth of job security is beginning to crumble.
